A Challenger Appears!

Still neglectful, the tired authoir begins to write...

I've got a few things to record here today. One of them is the acquisition of my Acer Aspire One!
It is the awesomesause and I lurves it very much. So far it has:

Intel Atom Processor at 1.60GHz
1GB RAM
160GB HDD
XP Home ULCPC
and
a 6-cell battery guaranteed to last for 5+ hours!

THIS LAPTOP IS FUCKING WIN.

must eat, post later.

BUFFALOL

So it seems I've once again neglected this ...... thing.

so I'm here with another update to the countless people that don't read my blog!

-clears throat-

So, I've been messing around with some MS-DOS crap lately, leading to my good friend Mike to install Debian Etch 4 on his 486. (Which worked)
After that he set up some crap including Apache for Linux and I uploaded some crap. I now have my own webspace! but now it's inside an AMD Athlon 750 machine because the 486 is being used for various other things.

http://superdos.rubbermallet.org

OR

http://www.superdos.co.nr

they should both work.

if not, oh well.

Newfags can't upsode-down? I beg to differ.

it has again been a while since I decided to show myself on here to post random things, but I'm in the mood to actuallly write something today.

it seems that on Saturday the hospital called my grandma to tell her my grandpa might not make it another few days. they had his stuff on a crash cart in the room.
On Sunday, around 3:45PM PST, he fell asleep. at 6PM PST, his heart stopped. he was officially declared dead around 6:07PM PST.

it might be sad to hear, but I really don't feel anything towards it.
He's been out in California for about two years now. in those two years, he has moved out there, gotten a stroke, came back to visit, gone back, had another stroke, and was in a hospital bed ever since February 2007. it's because I haven't seen him in so long that it ju8st hasn't kicked in yet that he's really gone.

again, it's sad to hear, and it'll be sad for me when it finally gets to em that he's gone and won't ever be coming back.

in light of that, I have some news to share.

Back a week ago, I got a computer out of the trash.
it's an HP Pavilion 4550Z. it has a 466MHz Intel Celery, HAD 96MB of memory, and had a 4GB HDD with Windows 2000.

NOW, it STILL has a 466MHz Celery. has 384MB Memory. a 10GB Boot with the same 2k and the 4GB for storage.
It now also has a TNT2 16MB card instead of the yucky onboard RAGE IIc. also has an Intel 29943 10/100 card and a Sound Blaster 16 Value in the ISA slot.

All in all, it's a nice machine now.

BUT!
When I got it, it was filled with PURE SHIT.

For instance... I give an example by showing the desktop wallpaper I recieved it with.

NSFW Much?

NSFW Much? Yes it is.
the wallpaper is still there; I haven't found a good replacement for it yet.
....speaking of replacements, I need to add a fan someplace.

Aug. 4th, 2008

I Throw-a The Box!

......Is funny if you know where I got that from.

._. ANYWAYS

I'm having a bit of a dilemma with my room here, and every time I try to clean I find some way pf procrastination... Well, this is what happens to most people with ADD/HD I guess.
It just happens here and there at random times, I drop whatever I'm doing and procrastinate my heart out. X.X I wish I could just get it clean.

and you don't even NEED to see my room to telll that it's messy, just think of a small enclosed space full of computer junk. should help.

OTHER NEWS~
-------------

I'm beta-testing DOSIRCD, an IRCd for MS-DOS run atop the NTCPDRV TCP stack (Which needs to die in a fire ffs) and also about to beta-test Chase, an MS-DOS E-mail client which now has SMTP support as of this posting! :D

But it cannot send to SSL-encrypted mailboxes... YET. I have yet to hear from the big cheese on how thats going to be set up. either way, check ti all out at Rubbermallet.org.

Other things to note is that I hooked up a SCSI card into my HP yesterday with a used 40GB drive. had problems so i downgraded it to an 80MB (Yes, EIGHTY MEGABYTES) SCSI drive I found in a Mac Classic II a while back. Seems to be working fine and runs cool. (Note to self: get a fan to keep it cool in the case)

NOT ONLY THAT, but I seemed to have blown out my gigabit hub, meaning I can't have a 10/100 network upstairs anymore. Instead I've moved to a 10Mbps Full Duplex hub made by Soho which slowed down the network a TAD, but it's still usable and doesn't lag anything up, thank God. AND WITH the blowing out of the hub, I also managed to scorch the pins right off a Generic SMC Ethernet PCI card in my Athlon 800 computer, which made the card unusable. So I took that out and replaced it with ANOTHER SMC card circa 1994, an SMC EtherEZ 8416 ISA (PnP Disabled) with BNC Coax, AUI and an RJ-45 port. took a little configuring but Windows 2000 accepts it fine and it runs beautifully on my downgraded upstairs network. As for my other machines, they'll just have to live with it.

I'm also currently in the process of building myself an MS-DOS Machine for my testing instead of using my 486 laptop or my Win95 Laptop for the testing. that way I can use them and use MS-DOS at the same time :P
The Specs are as follows:

-Pentium 200MMX Processor
-40MB EDO RAM
-Some Random Tseng Labs ISA VGA card with 1MB Vram on it
-The OTHER SMC EtherEZ 8416, this one with BNC Coaz and RJ-45 only
-a Hard drive in the range of 40 to 420MB

it's still in the works but for the most part is fine for now.

I"ll have to continue this later, I need to get to work. THIS ENTRY COUNTS AS PROCRASTINATION!

So it seems there's a nw AIM bot flying around town called the *salmon bot. Basically it's a shitload of AIM bots that are triggered everytime you post to your Livejournal. and you have an AIM account thing in there. The only thing is, once you talk to the bot, you get a real person next. it's funny and sad at the same time. SO HERES HOPING I GET HIT. -BOOMHEADSHOT-

Jan. 7th, 2008

Such a LONG weekend, you would never believe.

Another long weekend again, going nto NY as I said before and stuff like that.

I brought my Tablet with e to my Dad's work and ran some updates while plugged into the wired network (They have wireless but the adapter in my Tablet is too slow; might get a wireless G to replace it with) and got to talk to a few people on teh IRCs and MSN Messenger. [GAH I HATE THIS KEYBOARD dkjiebnuifurhieuhgieurhuisdhcvsdnfsvdju] After getting a few cups of coffee we headed North and made it to the Hotel in about 2 hours at 70Mph. >.>

The hotel room was the worth, though. the only available outlet on the other side by the beds was underneath one of them asnd I had to SQUEEZE my hand in there to plug my Tablet in to charge and stuff. three MSN convos later, I have to turn it off and go to sleep, and THEN the real problems started. people down the hall were yelling and making a bunch of noise, keeping me up, and the pillows annoyed my throat a bit (allergies?) but I still found a way to go to sleep and all was well for a while.

after breakfast and stuff we went to Dave's and rode around on our snowmobiles a bit (I have the videos and pictures to prove it) and other stuffs. we didn't have lunch, and instead went up to the barn and tried to get my Grandpa's ArcticCat ZL600 to fire up. a change of Gas and some new sparkplugs later, it still wouldn't work. we put starting fluid in the spark plug holes, and it fired up for a bit, and them a loud BANG! the engine backf ired and died. after finding the air intake we sprayed some in there and it actually ran fine for the rest of the time. I went sledding a bit with my sister down this one hill and it kinda cheered me up. I ALSO picked up the hood I left there a few weeks back when I took it off ancd couldn't find it when I got home.

YOU SEE NAAAAAAAAAAAAAATHING.

Meh. I'll post picture later IF I FEEL LIKE POSTING THEM. heh-heh, just kidding, I'll post some. g'night for now.

Jan. 4th, 2008

Where does the sled keep all his money?

In teh Sn0w Bank!

Hey everyone! I'm typing this on my way home from school on the keyboard for my Tablet! w00t! anyway, this thing was a smash hit at school and I think I even convinced my Music teacher to get one, because he's better at writing things rathernthat typing. Typing really isn't that hard on it either, you just need to have a stylus or a keyboard (In my case wireless) and put it right in front of it and start it up. works great!

The blemishes on the screen, although they don't really bother me that much, are getting a bit annoying. I'm going to try some plastic polish on it to see if that works or something made to buff the blemishes out of teblet screens or plastic itself, maybe a CD-cleaning goo or solution will work. anything at this point because it's going tobe used for Art class ad te like for y artistical capabilities.

ZOMG I love this thing already

THe only probem with it is that the internal drie is a 20GB drive and that really limits the amount of stuff I can put on it. Luckily it has a FireWire400 IEEE !394 mini adapter, so Ia plug my External into it to get more space. ^__^

When the Tablet is on the charger on my desk the screen brigtness is very bright and the rocessor speed is at the full 800 Mhz. When it's not on the charger but is running on the battery, the brightness is dimmed and the processor runs someplace around 398 Mhz, around half the full speed to save battery power. the battery I have is admittedly sucky in many ways, but I'm hoping that I can get a neweer battery from eBay or somewhere ellse that works a lot better, saving this one as a backup.

BRB, getting off the bus.

ACK... such a long bus ride. my dad just called and said that we might be going to NY... My brother might not go though. We might be leaving tomorrow.

Anyway, gotta go. post more later.

Jan. 3rd, 2008

Happy F00KING new year.

Apparently the Internet GODS gave me my internet back for some strange reason.
Also, my Tablet is supposed to come today! and I'm happy! -dances in circles-

I don't have much to write about, because it's late and I need to get to sleep. I'll post details up later. HAPPY N00 YEAR TO YUU AWL

Dec. 29th, 2007

IT's ALIVEEEEE

I abandoned work on my 200MB drive from '93 about a week ago, and I just started it up again after finding my T8 Torxdriver. After doing some test runs with an AT PSU, I was able to figure out the problem... apparently, the arm for the read/write head was loose. i took a screwdriver to it and fixed it in a jiffy, also lubing up the drive motor and the arm. it seems to work fine now...

The Tablet's total price for shipping and whatnot came to about $327. it's a bit over budget (about $60 over) but now my mom doesn't owe me any more money. I'm also looking into making some sort of hangable art with a hard drive so that I can hang it and make it spin. I have an 80-gig that will do just fine it seems. >.> I hate Western Digital WD800's. they're so unreliable.

My sister officially started using the laptop today. I spent most of yesterday restoring it to factory settings and getting rid of bad stuff I know she doesn't need. I'm also right now doing a doublecheck on the 200MB hard drive to make sure it's usable for my next project... a Linux IRC server from that drive! w00t

but it can't happen right now. I need to wait a little before I can actually start to install anything. first comes the research.

Gotta go, I'm being called.

Dec. 27th, 2007

x______x Even MORE deprivation.

Gahh I hate this.

Sorry all who spy on me and that kind of shit, but I'm not going to have the internet for a little bit... I'm updating via my mom's iMac downstairs... Meh. It's cause My brother and I didn't rake the leaves and now our dad changed the key on the wireless until we clean them ALL up. geaohu;ogjroih;aejhoi;aethjetheathaerhejhaehrj.

-sips his Starbucks Iced Coffee-

In other news, I'm doing the biggest backup of my life. seriously, though, I'm backing up my life. Everything that's mine on my laptop that can be put on my 300GB External HD is being put on there, except for programs that I can download and instal later. But I'm talking about about 2 years last week of files and junk of that sort. and music. and the 14.4GB of files from my old My Documents folder from February. and everything else. Inclusing 4x4 Evolution 2. Everything MUST BE BACKED UP.

Why, you ask?

Because I'm giving my laptop to my little sister. Why? BECAUSE I GOT A TABLET PC AND WOW AND ZOOM AND WII

It's a Fujitsu Stylistic T4110, with a Pentium III (Marked as M) 800Mhz processor, 512MB RAM, Windows XP Tablet, a 20GB hard drive and a couple other things too like an IEEE 1394 Firewire port. Hullo!~ I think that's perfect, cause then I can copy CDs to my External or to a USB drive and run the stuff from there much like Mana was doing with her flashdrive and her Toshiba 2210CDS... (Is it a 2210CDS? the world may never know.)

It's coming with an IR wireless Keyboard, so I can use that on the bus I think. I'm not going to use a keyboard pfthen though, as this will mainly be used for Photoshopping and stuff like that. which means I need to copy down my CS2/CS3 key and put it on there. he he he...

HOORAY FOR ILLEGALITYNESS AND IT'S HOPEFULLNESS AND WONDERFULNESS >.>
YOU SEE NAATHINGGGGGGG.

ANyway, that's the half of it. I'm also cleaning my room, and I will have a recent picture up soon. I hope. Right now, keep looking pretty, and keep coming here to read about my whocaresaboutmecausethisisanunreadblogtotheworld life.

Internet Deprivation

How much wood can a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
That's for you to find out on your own time.

Well, I'm in a funny pickle, it seems. My dad just took down the wireless antennas off the access point, so I have a very low signal on my wireless connection, and my brother not even having one at all. It's because I'm right above the router/point itself, and because I have my way with USB cables ( My connection is from a USB Adapter), I'm able to get a decent connection if not a connection at all. My brother is still convinced that he just needs to keep trying to find it in his room. but he'll never get a signal and he knows it... only the smart ones prevail in the end, it seems to be right now. I just made an offer to hook him up to my subnet and get him online, but he refused and is still trying to find the SSID.

I also have other news! I'm building a server! here are the pieces:

R3TURN 0F T3H K6!!!1

TEH RETURN OF TEH K6-2!!!!!!!!!!1

THe K6-2 M599LMR motherboard, the 10MBPS LAN ISA card, a 6-gig hard drive, a 12 year old Video card (As of 12/18/07), a 350W PSU, and a regular boring CD drive. Maybe a USB Floppy later on, but not now. I'm probably going to load it up with Windows NT or 2000, cause I feel like it. NT because it's a Dead OS and there's no more updates for it, making it so there isn't a hassle to get updates every day. 2000 because it's the ONE OS that I love in many ways and i"m very much used to because of the simplicity in some areas and that it's serious where it needs to be. XP came with "New Users" in mind, where 2000 Pro was meant for the consumer business market. People eventually took liking into it and bought it as a home system and it became a huge success. Plus, Windows 2000 has USB support, as where NT4 doesn't ahve it built in, but can get a USB driver pack that was originally meant for a Dell Laptop that works fine. so that's also a maybe, cause I need one type of protocol to transfer files to and from with, and not CDs.

Windows 2000 support was recently dropped for a number of things, and support is growing to minimum. Because everyone is still using it though brings lots of hope for the future.

As for me, I'm noit really that much into history. I just wanna make a server and get people connected. Gah, its it that hard to ask?

my brother just turned 14... Gah, I need to go to sleep. zzzGnight everyone.

Dec. 15th, 2007

bought a teddy today for £5, named him Mohammed then sold him on for £10.

[Question is, have I made a prophet?]

Gah, I'm at my Dad's work and I have nothing to do.  Good news is, I recently did some HUGE updates to the innards of COD!
Say Hello to COD 2.0:  Computer Maekshift extraordinaire...

And then some.

At the moment i'm typing on the Linux Box in my Dad's office which is going to become a Data Collection Terminal sometime in the near future.  For now it's taking up space on the desk and is keeping me occupied while I'm bored here with nothing to do.
Oh and I made $140 on Friday.  Don't ask how.

It's gonna go toward my Tablet PC though, cause I want one REALLY REALLY BAD.  and it's been decided that Chelsea is getting my Laptop if I ever disown it, so I'mgetting a Tablet so that I CAN disown it and get rid of the big, luggabe peice of Inspiron 6000 trash.

In other news, I'm officially in charge of providing music for the next couple of dances at school.  whoopee.
It's cause I have good music, let alone the biggest music collection in the entire school.  Thank you 120GB hard drive!

My GOD I'm bored.

I'm also currently trying to get a picture from a shirt to make a wallpaper from my friend..  it's from the "Limey-Man" shirt from YGO:TAS and I really need it for I accepted the task and cannot back down.  X________X
I WISH I COULD FIND IT ON GOOGLE IMAGES OR SOMETHING -HINTHINT-

I mst go now,  my hand has carpal tunnel now.

Supah Trash Daiii ~~w00t

Oh and by the way w00t is Merriam Webster's word for 2007.

I"ve been neglecting my LJ a lot lately... -hugs teh neglected blog-
BUt I have updates, and I have pictures! First up:

Two iMac G3 350s (gutted), three Dell computers, two 486s (also gutted mostly) a case form an 8086, a Printer (DJ 3650 is FTL), a Packard Bell, and an old '86 IBM Laptop bottom with original Mobo and RAM.

That's the trash from my room that I put out on my own depending if I needed it or not. there's still lots up here, but I'm still weaving through it.

that's mostly it for now... I have to type up an essay righ now, so ciao.

2nd Marking Period Report...

Gah, when I go to school in the morning it'll officially be the 2nd marking period... which is alright but now in Gym class I have to take Driver's ED and I REALLY REALLY don't want to do that. It's times like this that I wished that the older Gym teacher was back. but that's my opinion.

Andrew got his Aunt's 486 yesterday, so from 3-4:45 I was helping him upgrade it with the little parts I have. It's an older Gateway2000 machine, probably good as a small firewall or something along those lines. But he needs to use it for who the Hell knows what.

I took a look at his drive. Since my 170MB has smaller byte sectors and lotsa space, I switched it out with the 210 he had in the thing.
[MaxBlast 4 ROCKS.]
It also takes a bit for the thing to start up, so it's probably gonna die soon. the one I replaced it with it running strong though and turns on almost instantly, while being just a smidget louder than the 210. >.> -makes some folders and backs stuff up on it-

tired now. I'll write more After school ends today. Night all.
